Bucks win the Minneapolis Outdoor Title for the 2nd year in a row and for the 3rd time in 5 years.

The final four in the Minneapolis city playoffs was once again made up of the Thursday night Bryn Mawr league.  Buckers defeated the Moose in the first semi final game and the Bucks defeated JJ's Clubhouse in the second semi final game.  The Bucks and Bunkers met again in the chip.  It was a close exciting game, with a couple goals being disallowed.  Gatti made a pass to Andy, Andy shot from the point and Cheney cleaned it up.  Walfoort took a good shot to the eye that required 9 stitches, but the Bucks held on with one 1 sub to take home the trophy.  The final score was 1-0, Bucks on top.  Nice work fellas!

Game Write-up

Lots of offense tonight.  The ice was clean, but the bumps added a challenge to the passes and ball handling.  We controlled ball for almost the entire game and everyone got some time at the offensive end.  Klubber was the only player not to get a goal.  Our opponents were new to the league and had a few guys who had never played before.  They were pretty good with positioning, but they lacked the ball handling skills and they tended to over-pursue.  Overall, it was a clean game with only one inadvertent tripping penalty..  Final score was 16-1.

Week 2 - Jan 12, 2006

6 pm - Bucks defeat Bunker's 2-1

7 pm - Adrian's defeat Harvey's Bar & Grill

8 pm - JJ's Clubhouse defeat Moose 3-1

Game Write-up

This was a tough game all around.  The ice was crap and other than a dangerously slick area on the south side, it was a slush game.  Bunkers were running hard and forcing the Bucks to make turnovers - and it worked a few times.  Bunkers scored first and it was a bit of a shock for the Bucks.  Alan came through with a nice unassisted goal.  He shot from a place where he had no business shooting from.  But he said the goalie stepped out and gave him an opening.  Tie game 1-1.  Bunkers were furious that a goal of theirs was called back because of an offsides call.  With less than a minute left in the half, Jason stole the ball at center ice, passed to Alan and Alan took a long shot.  Gatti was there to tip it over the goalie to put the Bucks up 2-1.  The Bucks held on the 2nd half and Klubber came up big with numerous saves.  Bucks defeat long time Bunkers rival 2-1.

Week 3 - Jan 19, 2006

6 pm - Adrian's defeat Moose 4-0

7 pm - Bucks defeat JJ's Clubhouse 7-1

8 pm - Bunker's defeat Harvey's Bar & Grill

Game Write-up

The Bucks played well tonight.  JJ's didn't cover us in front of the net and the offense got a lot of close range goals.  The defense stopped JJ's on just about every breakaway opportunity.  Matt moved up to forward with his injured wing and Mike stepped in to play defense.  Thanks Mike!  Alan lead all scorers with 2 goals and 2 assists on the night.  Next week is the big match-up between the only two undefeated teams in the league.

Week 4 - Jan 26, 2006

6 pm - Moose defeat Harvey's Bar & Grill 4-2

7 pm - Bunker's defeat JJ's Clubhouse 3-1

8 pm - Adrian's defeat Bucks 4-0

Game Write-up

The ice was pretty bad tonight.  The temp hit 50 and we were basically playing on slush and water.  Along the boards was the worst.  Adrian's came out with much more energy than the Bucks and they scored 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game.  Defensive breakdowns, stolen passes and some nice movement by Adrian's made all the difference.  The Bucks gave up one more goal before the half and then both teams were scoreless in the 2nd half.
