2005 Winter Carnival

Bucks Take 2nd at the 2005 Minnesota C Outdoor Championships!

The Bucks had their best ever state tournament finish.  This year's tournament included 13 teams divided into 4 pools ranging from Superior to Rochester.  The Bucks started slowly losing both of their pool play games 2-3 and getting the 3rd seed.  After that, the Bucks won three straight games by one goal each.  Two of the wins came in overtime.  The highlight of the tourney was against the Play it Again team from Superior in the semi final game.  After losing to them in the 2nd pool play game, the Bucks needed some pay-back.  Both teams played solid defense and ended regulation in a 0-0 tie.  The first overtime went the same way.  Each team had chances in the 2nd sudden death overtime including a wide shot by a breaking Play it Again team member.  They shot it out of the rink, which gave the Bucks a face-off inside the red line.  Brian won the face to Andy and he alertly flipped it over everyone.  The ball bounced a couple times and slowly rolled toward the net.  There was nothing the opponents could do but watch the winning goal slowly roll over the line.  Nice job Andy!  Andy gets the team trophy for a stellar performance in the tournament.  Andy lead all scoring, which is amazing considering he played defense the entire time!  The Bucks finally met their match in the championship with the Crab House team from Fridley.  Half of the Bucks team also played 5 other coed games that weekend, which didn't help the legs.  Overall, a remarkable tournament!
